Saturday 26th September – Relaxing then hike **** Passerelle de l’Ebrun - sunny – 6 miles – 2 hrs out.

We slept for 9 hours solid!!! That is most unusual. It was a lovely day and there were a few more families here today with it being the weekend and lots of different activities on the water. Le Mira and the smaller shuttle boat were making more trips, there were water skiers and wakeboarders out, fishing boats, stand up paddle boards and canoes. We had a very leisurely start and didn’t even have breakfast until 11.30. I didn’t know whether to sail or not because the wind seems to pick up here around lunch time and our 48 hours car park ran out around 2.30 so a decision to stay or go had to be made. In the end we decided we would stay anyway and then I decided to sail because the wind was hovering around the 10-14mph mark and suddenly loads of kites appeared. Having had trouble getting the top box to close the other day I then couldn’t get the bloody thing to unlock today :( Nightmare. In the end (after sitting in contemplation instead of throwing something heavy across the car park) I hacksawed through the locking lugs and it did open. Now I can keep it closed with roof rack straps, like the old one. Lots easier and no more trying to get the bloody thing to lock!! In the end I missed nothing, as the windsurfers really struggled in the light winds but the 20+ kiters on their hydrofoils were having a ball, perfect for them. When I had packed the gear I had got out away we went for a hike. Mag had intended to go and see the cows we saw yesterday while I was out sailing so we set out with that in mind but found a path which went all along the banks of the lake, through woodland and along the shore. We followed that and realised we weren’t far from the Passerelle de l’Ebrun so we carried on and walked across it again. There were more people about today but we still had the bridge nearly to ourselves. Walked back along the higher track and this time passed the cows again. We spoke to an English couple on their bikes who had just arrived on their way back from St. Tropez. We were out for 2 hours and walked 6 miles. Last half of the lasagne for tea.
